The aim of this scheme is to offer young students over the age of 14/15 an opportunity to access information and freely discuss topics not necessarily covered by the normal school curriculum. The choice of lectures depends on their answers. I set up this scheme in the year following 11/9/2001. I had a strong sense of a gap in the support offered to young people in these difficult and changing times. Many topical themes were not necessarily available for them to discuss and be better informed about. The key to understanding this scheme is in its name: it is informal and participation is voluntary, informative (specialist speakers) and interactive.
